Artists Sunday Week is here!

**

Last week, I was talking to Cynthia Freese of Artists Sunday about their big plans to help every artist who wants to make money from their talents.  Way back in May we talked to them about their concept and things have moved forward since then.  But, now Artist Sunday is a week away and so we are catching up with Cynthia Freese of Artists Sunday!

Xavier:  Okay, when we last spoke you introduced me and our readers to Artists Sunday, is that right?  Can you remind us all about what that is and what we should know about it as we move into the holidays?

Cynthia Freese of Artists Sunday:  We are an art shopping movement of more than 2,000 artists, local arts agencies, cities, counties, state agencies, chambers of commerce, and organizations coming together to encourage consumers to shop with their favorite local artists and craftsmen during the holiday season.  Artists Sunday takes place the Sunday after Thanksgiving. Think of it like Black Friday or Small Business Saturday but for the arts.  New Artists and Partners are joining daily.

Cynthia Freese of Artists Sunday:  With regards to artists that are in Seattle proper we have 79 that have listed “Seattle.”  Several are not listed on the web site because they do not have online stores. We have a total of 251 artists throughout the state of Washington. I’m estimating that about 200 of them are in the greater Seattle area. If you give me a list of suburbs that count as “Seattle” I could give you a specific number, but I don’t know all suburbs that qualify as being “in Seattle”.

Xavier:  No worries! Estimates are great!

Cynthia Freese of Artist Sunday:  And those are just last week’s numbers.

Xavier: Is this specific to Seattle then?

Cynthia Freese of Artist Sunday:  We are a National movement  but Washington  State is in the lead as far as partners go.  We  currently have artists in all  50 US states and on 6 Continents.

I can provide you  with a list of local partners if you want.  And we have a fun map to  see where  people are .

Xavier:  Nice!  Tell me a little bit about some of the groups, institutions etc., that have become involved in AS?

Cynthia Freese of Artists Sunday:  We have  a nice variety of non profits  and government agencies that have signed on as partners to help get the word out and  we are allowing for-profit business to join the movement  as patrons.   you can find a complete list of partners and patrons in the directories on the website.

I just got new national numbers for our Executive  Director we are currently at  2200 artists,  330 partners and  48 patrons.

Xavier:  Nice! That is amazing!  And this is your first year?

Cynthia Freese of Artists Sunday:  We started working on the back end, the website and the tool kit in March and started reaching out to potential partners in May.  Some people caught on to what we were doing quickly and others took a while to understand what we were try to achieve.

I started in Issaquah on the east side and then worked my way across the state–Virtually.  My goal was to have artists in every state along with a partner to help support them.

Our main objective for this year is to get consumers to shop art on  November  29,  Artists Sunday is like Black Friday but for art.

Xavier:  That is very awesome, so how do artists get the word out and how will the public know about all your hard work?

Cynthia Freese of Artists Sunday:  Our Artists, Partners and  Patrons are helping to spread the world.  We provided them with a tool kit with step-by-step instructions as we  also hired a PR firm to do some of the  heavy-lifting.  We sent out tool kits to all our members and we have  told them to do and what they  can do to  help spread the world.  Many artists are creating specials for artists Sunday and listing their promotion on our Artists Sunday Calendar, we have  about  144 listed as of 6 pm tonight.

Xavier:  Awesome!  Do you have a link for the website?

www.artistsSunday.com

Xavier:  Are there other things that you want our readers to know about Artists Sunday and is it too late for people to sign up?

Cynthia Freese of Artists Sunday:  It’s not too late to sign up and registering is free to artists, Partners and Patrons.  We are hoping that Consumers will Shop Artists Sunday!  Art adds beauty and meaning to life.  It can also be practical and useful like a custom handbag or hand-carved bowl.  We have created a list of ideas for Shoppers  and for artists across the  country. We are calling it our artists Sunday best gift picks.

We are offering an easy and effective way to support local and regional artists at a time when in person opportunities are severely  limited.

Xavier:  This really sounds awesome and the more I hear about the more excited I am about it.  I’m more of a conceptual artist than a commercial artist and I am severely tempted to try you guys out!

Cynthia Freese of Artists Sunday:  Here is a press release we wrote to highlight our 20 best gift picks for this year.

Cynthia Freese of Artists Sunday:  Xavier, thank you so much for being supportive of the movement!  We just want people to think of artists this holiday season!  Artists are, after all, small businesses that often get overlooked.  Shopping art does not have to be expensive and there is an endless array of variety.  Thank you so much for all you do!

Xavier: Thank you!  Artists need as many allies as they can get!

Cynthia Freese of Artists Sunday:  You can quote yourself on that one!

We are working on some exciting new ways to be even more helpful  in 2021 and 2022!

Xavier:  That is very awesome!  The world promises to be a better place in 21 and 22!

Cynthia Freese of Artist Sunday:  Quotes!  We do have some!

Here are some quotes , I can add yours to the  list!

Xavier: For sure!  Good luck and talk to you very soon!

Cynthia Freese of Artists Sunday:  We are  gaining on world domination,  artists  around the globe are now finding us!
